JOHNSON CITY - Joe B. Riley, 87, Johnson City, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2016 at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center, Mountain Home, TN. He was a native of Mohawk, TN and son of the late Edward David and Mary Jane Jones Riley. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Grubb Riley, and his brother, Howard Emory Riley. Joe proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He worked as a salesman in the automotive industry for several years. Joe also served as membership chair for the Johnson City chapter of the Disabled American Veterans. Those left to cherish Joe's memory include his children: Josephine Riley Smith and her husband Dennis, Deltona, FL, Edd Riley and his wife Carolene Holey Riley, Wake Forest, NC; grandchildren: Miranda Riley-Smith and her husband Brandon, Katie Smith Fermin and her husband Victor, all of Deltona, FL; eight loving great-grandchildren; special friends: Bob Bontempt, Harold Stevens, Frank Neal Riley, and all his friends at the DAV and Boone Dam VFW Post #4933. The family would like to offer a special thank you to his friends at the DAV for all the visits and loving care they provided to Joe when the family couldn't always be there. A Graveside and Committal service for Joe B. Riley will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Mountain Home National Cemetery with Chaplain Chip Fowler officiating. Full Military Honors will be provided by VFW Boone Dam Post #4933 and the Johnson City DAV. Pallbearers will be chosen from family and friends. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:50 pm.
